Welcome New Member, Michelle Jermy, The Yoni Therapist – Clinical Sexologist, Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist, to the SMBN!

I am delighted to welcome Michelle Jermy, Founder at The Yoni Therapist, to the SMBN. Here is what Michelle says;

‘Hello, I’m Michelle. My career started out in the health and exercise industry, I was a Physical Therapist and Lecturer for 20 years.

I recall having an impressive work portfolio with much experience working across NHS, public and private sectors. I conducted and published research, could present to large audiences, led consultancy work but inside I battled with low self-worth. Despite an impressive work CV my relationship CV was questionable. I have been a single Mum for 20 years, financially, emotional, physically solely responsible for my two children.

Life as a single mum, no weekend dad, no financial assistance – it’s exhausting and so overwhelming at times. As many here know we face incredible challenges defying the odds every day, to create stable, loving homes despite limited resources.

My work, my clients and personal experiences led me to progress my studies. I truly do not know how I juggled it all, but I did. I qualified as a Clinical Sexologist/Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist with a special interest in female presenting biomedical issues.

When asked what I do I reply ‘I help women want sex and couples reconnect through intimacy’.

Obviously, there is much more to the work I do but I can truly say I have found my purpose. I have the passion but when we look at the current state of single parenthood, it’s clear that change is needed. There should be a society where single parents can thrive—not by defying impossible odds, the question shouldn’t just be can single parents survive. It should be ‘why are we making survival so hard?’ I have decided despite being a single Mum I am worth having it all, I plan to connect with like-minded individuals and make this life count, make a difference for my life, my children’s and the clients I work with.

To give you an idea on who I work with. Many of my clients are lost, life has taken their time, their identity and piece by piece they faded away. Very often sexual desire is the first thing to go, impacting relationships negatively, then the ability to feel arousal reduces, pain and/or discomfort is present, the sexual self becomes a shadow.

Very often women accept ‘sex’ is something they used to do when I strongly believe we deserve to enjoy pleasure and to be pleasured. I specialise in the life journey for the female bodied individual: pregnancy, birth, perimenopause, menopause. With my clients I explores beliefs, values and how life experiences affect self-esteem, self-worth and sexual satisfaction.
