Our first conference was fantastic – thanks to the venue, our delegates and speakers…

The SMBN is about good, ethical, honest networking where women really understand what it is to have a sense of #sisterhood, and to collaborate and not compete, and despite only being a few months old we have had such a fantastic response, not only from Single Mums but also from other women in business, and men too. It is really important to highlight the fact that archaic pay & high cost of living making it near impossible for a family to live on one income, as they used to, and often self-employment is the only hope.

Thank you Jackie Groundsell – 1230 The Women’s Company
Jackie opened the Conference with a fun speed networking session to enable our delagates and speakers to personally connect with other in a very controlled, stress free way! It was lovely that the ladies had an opportunity to connect so early in the day.

Thank you Catherine Gladwyn – Author of Award Winning Amazon Bestselling Book ‘How to be a Virtual Assistant’
Catherine joined us from Wiltshire to share insight and information on how she became a Virtual Assistant and Best Seling Author. Catherine was once a single mum and understands the challenges faced whilst striving to earn your place as a professional woman against the odds.

Thank you Lucinda Dore – Lucinda Dore is a Solicitor. She specialises in Private Crime & Regulatory Law, Road Traffic Law and Benefit Appeal Tribunals. She has Higher Rights of Audience meaning that she can provide advice and advocacy in both the Magistrates & Crown Court as well as Tribunals.
Lucinda joined us from Brighton to share insight into how not to accidentally get into trouble. i.e, if you start dating, don’t let him /her stay more than 2 nights! It’s so complex being a single mum if you need short term tax refunds!

Thank you Fiona Scott – Fiona is a PR and Media Professional with a long career in jounalism and television.
Fiona joined us from Wiltshire to share her expertise on what to do and crucially what not to do when you want to increase your profile in the media. Fiona engaged us all with what she had to share.

Thank you Cara Sayer – Inventor ‘Snooze Shade’ and the lady behind ‘Make it’ ‘Market it’ ‘Sell it’
Cara joined us from Surrey to share her personal struggles and triumphs in business. She shared great insight and advice and was very inspirational. We all need to know that it is possible to get through the toughest of times and really make success happen! Thanks Cara
During the next 12 months I will organising meetings throughout the UK for Single Mums in Business, but I need help. With such a busy period of e-mails and social media of late I realise that I need an #SMBN leader in every County, to deliver monthly meetings to your local SMiBs – if that’s you let me know. I’ll be hosting the regular SMBN meetings for Herefordshire.
I also host the 1230 TWC Wye Valley meetings for ALL women in business, as well as regularly attending WiRE meetings and various other networks – there is something for everyone and I have no problem in signposting.
Please see the Facebook page for EVENTS – (casual meetings and formal gatherings) and sign up to the Newsletter to stay in the loop for major stuff. We have SMiB Awards in May and a Staycation in July to name a few.
Here’s who’s with us so far:
